How Norrsken's open-source impact framework, published in 2022, becomes machine-inspectable per-portco config — defensible the day SFDR 2.0 enters force.
why now · the article 9 label norrsken vc was built around is being restructured · the new "sustainable" category requires product-level evidence at the portco line
Two parallel observations. Norrsken's own artifact. Tove Larsson's published voice.
Since 2022, Norrsken VC has open-sourced its full impact framework as the Impact Resource Hub — from SDG alignment through KPIs locked into the Shareholders agreement to quarterly KPI monitoring. One of the first European funds to tie carry compensation to impact targets. The public stance — "go copy us" — already accepts the methodology is meant to be inspected.
"If you kill the impact, you kill the business."
Founding GP since December 2019; ex-Bain, ex-Inkludera. Thesis: impact as growth flywheel. The 2025 European Impact Index (660+ founders and investors surveyed) is a benchmark only Norrsken is positioned to publish.
- SFDR review proposal COM(2025) 841 final (20 Nov 2025) retires the Article 9 "Dark Green" label.
- Three new categories take its place — each with a 70% portfolio threshold and product-level PAI disclosure.
- Next 12–18 months turn the open-source framework from a marketing artifact into a regulatory defence.
None of these dimensions is new for Norrsken. What changes is the reconstruction burden — and the readership.
Each dimension already has a Norrsken-published rule. SFDR 2.0 asks whether the evidence is reconstructable per portco, on a 24-month look-back, by someone outside the IC meeting.
FIG. ── 5 EVIDENCE DIMENSIONS · TODAY (IC FRAME) → SFDR 2.0 / FUND III DILIGENCE FRAME
Same data, three different reading frames — the regulator running the Sustainable Category 70% threshold check, the LP doing Fund III diligence, and, in 2027, an EU-level supervisor verifying the 70% claim. All of which need the same source of truth.
Two primitives sit underneath the framework — audit chain and methodology overlay. Same source of truth, two different reading frames.
A hash-chained, append-only log of every per-portco impact decision — Theory of Change at term sheet, Impact Workshop output, KPI revisions, quarterly reports, founder attestations, IC commentary. Each entry carries an evidence-mode tag: [founder-reported] [norrsken-validated] [third-party-audited].
Once written, no entry is editable; corrections happen by additional entry, time-stamped, with the prior state still readable. Cross-portfolio composition — what the new Article 9 "Sustainable" category demands at the product line — becomes a deterministic roll-up across 50+ chains rather than a quarter-end reconstruction project. The carry-to-impact link runs against the chain, not against the slides.
Each portco's Theory of Change, KPI definitions, target curves, PAI exposures, and SDG mapping live as inspectable YAML — one file per portco, version-controlled, diff-able quarter over quarter. The five steps of the published framework become the schema; the per-portco values fill the fields.
The Impact Resource Hub remains the public external doctrine. The overlay is the internal layer that makes the doctrine survive 50+ companies, four GP signatures, a regulatory review cycle, and an LP coming in for Fund III.
FIG. ── AUDIT CHAIN · MODE-TAGGED · HASH-LINKED · APPEND-ONLY · NEVER-DELETABLE
Together, the AUDIT CHAIN names what evidence exists; the OVERLAY names what the evidence is supposed to show. Same source of truth, two different reading frames — one for the Commission auditor, one for the LP.
A four-week paid PoC. Scoped narrow.
One sector cluster — climate, energy, biotech AI, or health tech — and three portcos from it. We instrument the AUDIT CHAIN for one quarterly cycle and render the METHODOLOGY OVERLAY YAML for those three. The output is a single LP-reporting page per portco, generated from the chain rather than reconstructed from slides. Decision after the cycle: extend, drop, or refactor.
The framework is open-sourced. Pressure-test the substrate beneath it.
The substrate answers in its own voice — the same primitive we'd install on one sector cluster of three portcos. Not a demo. The actual reasoning surface.

One sector cluster. Three portcos. One quarterly cycle. Whatever it produces, Norrsken keeps.
If relevant, I can send a short async questionnaire — no call needed — and build a no-charge synthetic-data Phase 0 PoC "Norrsken AI OS". Within two weeks, replay one portco's evidence chain against the new SFDR 2.0 Sustainable category threshold before the EU supervisor starts citing it at the 2028 entry.
Published impact-carry formula meets non-linear evidence-chain growth — and an SFDR 2.0 replay.
